Grooming Tips
Grooming before a photoshoot is important to ensure you look your best on camera. Please understand these are just tips and not at all required. It is most important that you feel like yourself! Here are some general rules to follow:
For Everyone:
- Hydrate and Moisturize: Drink plenty of water leading up to the shoot and use a good moisturizer to keep your skin looking fresh and smooth. Dry skin can appear flaky or uneven on camera.
- Hair: Make sure your hair is clean and styled according to your desired look. If you’re getting a haircut, do it a few days in advance so your hair has time to settle into place.
- Nails: Keep your nails clean and trimmed. If you’re wearing nail polish, ensure it’s neat and not chipped.
- Shaving/Trimming: If you plan to shave or trim facial hair, do it a day before to avoid redness or irritation. Make sure your shave is smooth.
For Specific Genders:
For Men:
- Beard/Mustache: If you have facial hair, make sure it is well-groomed. Trim and shape it to fit your desired look for the shoot.
For Women:
- Makeup: Opt for a clean and natural look, or do a makeup look that makes you feel most like yourself. Avoid foundation shades that are too dark or too light. Getting your makeup professionally done is an option but I would make sure you feel like yourself.
- Hair: Style your hair as desired before the shoot. If you’re using hair products, don't try anything new! Stay with products you find reliable or schedule an appointment with a hair stylist. Again, you want to feel like yourself.
General Tips:
- Avoid New Products: Don’t try new skincare or hair products right before the shoot to avoid unexpected reactions or breakouts.
- Clean Clothing: Wear freshly cleaned clothes for the shoot, and make sure they’re free of wrinkles and lint.
